Big Bandstand

Date:  June to September

Location:  Cassiobury Park 

Cost:  FREE

After extensive refurbishment the bandstand moved back to its original home in Cassiobury park in September 2016.

Situated near the Cafe in the Park, every weekend during the  summer months, it plays host to a jam-packed programme of FREE live shows, playing everything from jazz to ukulele – and of course, lots of traditional brass bands for you to enjoy.  What better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon!

Watford Brass Band

The Watford Band is a relaxed, traditional brass band based in Watford.  The band are over 125 years old and maintain an active schedule of performances.

Sunday 17 September, 3 to 5pm

Lou's Sextet Band

A seven-piece band, (despite the name!) playing an eclectic mix of music. 
Performed in Herts/Bucks area for some 18 years, in outdoor events, parties, fetes, pubs, and festivals. 
With saxes, congas, keyboard, guitar, drums, bass - our expert rhythm section, we like to put on a show, from Basie to Average White Band, Hank Mobley to Muddy Waters.
Their repertoire is extensive and varied, covering mainstream jazz, many jazz standards from the 40’s and later, Latin, bossa novas, some blues, as well as more up to date tunes such as from the Crusaders, Spyro Gyra, Average White Band.

Thatbluepatch

That Blue Patch is an entertaining semiacoustic duo featuring a variety of instruments, not all played at the same time! They pay cover versions of a variety of songs from the 20s to the present day.  "Two people, a lot of instruments and a quirky take on songs old and new."

Sunday 24 September, 3 to 5pm

New Variants

New Variants journey began in 2019 when aged just 10, Charlie, Dylan and Seren spent several months shredding the guitar, slapping the base and playing killer beats.  During Covid, the trio began recording digital collaborations from their individual bases around the country and once lockdown was lifted, New Variants was unleashed, hitting the studios and performing various locations.

The SJ Jazz 5, ft Alex Williams

The SJ Jazz 5, comprising alto and tenor saxes, piano, bass and drums, have been playing together for many years and have arranged this special vocal show to feature some great songs and great singing from our powerful vocalist Alex Williams.
